A new survey has found that golf participation in Britain was at its lowest level for a decade in 2012.
Golf venues collectively saw a drop in their number of golfers by more than 400,000 last year, compared with 2011, with three quarters of all golfers saying the wet weather impacted how much they played the game.
The 2012 Golf Participation in Great Britain report by SPORTS MARKETING SURVEYS INC. also found that the number of rounds played across Britain – which fell 13 per cent compared with 2011 – were hit by major sporting events, with the Olympic and Paralympic Games costing the country between 850,000 and 900,000 rounds in August alone.
