DISCUSSING ENGLAND GOLF’S STRATEGY: RAISING OUR GAME

On Tuesday June 23rd, golf industry experts met to discuss the launch of England Golf’s strategy: Raising Our Game. The panel consisted of SMS INC.’s Managing Director John Bushell; David Joy – CEO of England Golf; Anabel Sexton and Nigel Edwards of England Golf and Charlie Pillinger of Sturminster Marshall GC.
Sky Sports Golf’s Sarah Stirk lead, generating conversations about the new strategy being put in place, and the goals it hopes to achieve. According to SMS INC. research, England Golf is one of the largest sports governing bodies in the UK, and with over 1,900 clubs and 675,000 members; it is currently the fifth largest participation sport in the country. Raising Our Game hopes to improve on these figures, and stabilise membership numbers as well as developing talent development pathways and increasing participation.
The group covered topics such as making clubs more diverse, and ensuring that golf is more flexible and accessible, with John Bushell providing key data and insight into the market.
