Were you aware that it’s Women’s Sports Week 2017?
WSW is trying to get more women more active all over the world which we think is a great cause – you can check it out here. Through our International Participation Research, we thought that we would take a look and see how women’s sport is doing in the UK.
Health and fitness classes, field hockey and Yoga are three examples of sports where the number of female participants women outweigh the number of males. For example, of all field hockey players in the UK – 73% are female.
Some examples of sports where the gender split is more favourable towards men include football, cricket and martial arts. For example, of all UK cricket participants, only 27% are female.
SPOTLIGHT: WOMEN’S GOLF
The images below show the percentage of the golfing population that are female in each country. For example, of all golfers in the UK, just 12% are female, whereas in Germany, 38% of all golfers are female.
